Oak Bay Seafood is the product of over four decades of hands-on experience by Gregg and Anne Best, working the waters, and bringing locally sourced high-quality seafood to our customers.
Better Seafood Supply has grown out of a hands-on, family-based operation we started while living on Haida Gwaii/Queen Charlotte Islands 40 years ago. Back then, we fished halibut, salmon and crab on our troller/longliner Hopefull. Now, we specialize in selling a full range of sustainable local seafood to domestic markets.
We opened Cowichan Bay Seafood, a retail outlet, in the scenic village of Cowichan Bay in 2010, and then a location at the Victoria Public Market in 2013. Now we are fully based in Victoria, and have split our operation into a retail and eatery branch (Oak Bay Seafood), and a wholesale supply branch serving restaurant and grocery buyers out of our brand-new facility in central Victoria, operating as Better Seafood Supply. In both cases, we draw on our long-term experience in all parts of the seafood food chain, and our commitment to bringing our customers the best available local and sustainable seafood.
